Drawing a colonial house in ink and watercolor

watercolor colonial reference house drawing

That’s the house next door to my grandmother’s! It is in colonial style, with old roof tiles and wooden doors and windows.

One day I woke up and wanted to draw that house … So I stood in front of my theme with my watercolor notebook and made all the ink lines (many times I start directly with a permanent pen). It was a little hard to do the design holding the notebook in one hand with the sun coming close very quickly, but I think the drawing has an interesting result. Now, I have the memory of that colonial house with me. 🙂

I painted it with watercolor to express simplicity and remember the moment.

If you want, you can try to do this kind of exercise drawing directly with a pen. Don’t worry with possible mistakes. 🙂 It is amazing what happens in this process of learning. And you can always do the same theme again to discover other things.
